Mike Rogers and Elissa Slotkin
Democratic U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin's lead over Republican Mike Rogers in the Michigan Senate race has shrunk significantly since August.
A poll commmissioned by the Detroit News and WDIV shows Slotkin with a 3.5-percentage-point lead over Rogers. Specifically, the poll shows Slotkin with 46.8 percent support of likely Michigan voters compared to 43.3 percent for Rogers. About 5 percent are undecided.
The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
In August, the same poll showed Slotkin with a lead of 8.5 percentage points.

"He has spent September bringing in those Republicans, and now this battle is over these independents, and that's where she leads," pollster Richard Czuba, founder of the Glengariff Group, tells the News. "She's been focused for quite some time on winning these independent voters."
With tight Senate races around the country, Michigan's could determine which party controls the Senate.
The two candidates square off for a debate Tuesday at 7 p.m. The hour-long debate, hosted by Wood-TV in Grand Rapids, can also be seen on NewsNation and WDIV.
