Principal Emanuel Hailey,
An Oak Park School principal faces criminal charges for allegedly failing to report and document the physical abuse of a nonverbal child with autism, Fox 2 Detroit reports.
Emanuel Hailey, principal of Pepper Elementary School in Oak Park, was arraigned Friday. A teacher aide accused of committing the abuse has not yet been charged.
Fox 2 reports that the aide is accused of hitting and beating a five-year-old, nonverbal child with autism.
Fox 2 spoke with the child’s mother, who asked that her name not be used.
"I was seeing the hand prints, the marks, cuts and the bruises and things like that, on her body," she said. "And I’m like, ‘You didn’t do that to yourself’ and you can tell the difference between a child’s hand print and an adult. It was just the things like the bruises on her ribs and things like that.."
